Am I a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Did you know that fear and anxiety plague around 40 million Americans when it comes to their dental appointments? If the thought of going to the dentist ties your stomach into knots, you’re not alone! Here we specialize in helping patients relax and essentially “sleep” through their dental procedures. Read on to determine if you’re a candidate for sedation dentistry.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry utilizes a number of different techniques to help patients relax and feel at ease during their dental procedures. This can range from nitrous oxide, which is breathable gas administered through a mask worn during your procedure, to using medication so you can sleep throughout your appointment and have little to no memory of it.

At Sleep Dentists, we have general anesthesia permits from the State of Massachusetts attesting that our training and office facilities meet State requirements for the administration of general anesthesia. In the past, patients may have had to go to a hospital to receive this level of anesthesia for their dental care, however we offer it in the comfort of our own office so you’ll work with the team you already know and trust.

Who is a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Dental sedation is a great option for patients:
·  Who have fears, phobia, or anxiety about going to the dentist
·  With special needs or disabilities
·  Who struggle with time constraints and need more than one procedure done at one time.
·  Who require extensive treatment
·  Who struggle with a gag reflex

At Sleep Dentists, we are your premiere sedation dentists, and we welcome patients of all ages. Nitrous oxide is safe for children, and we create personalized care plans for treatment and sedation for each patient based on their individual needs. The first place to start is a consultation with one of our doctors to determine your treatment needs and the level of sedation that is right for you.

Optimum oral health is truly important for maintaining your overall health and well-being. If you’ve avoided the dentist in the past due to fear or anxiety, we encourage you to contact our office today and learn more about how we can help you reclaim your oral health.
